Why BARNSLEY Learner Drivers

Chose Adam Shenton Driving School.

Phillipa Bartlett, Taunton

Sian Darwent of Barnsley.

“Adam is a brilliant driving instructor! He explains everything so you understand why you are doing it rather than just following his instructions. It made me confident to make decisions myself and not rely on him to tell me what to do. I never felt nervous getting in the car as he was very patient and able to give criticism to help me improve without knocking my confidence. He will work around you and always had late lessons available to suit me. I passed first time and would 100% recommend Adam to anyone wanting to learn to drive. A very calm instructor and a great guy, I can’t thank him enough for helping me to pass my test!”

Alastair Smith, Taunton.

Aiden Mathers of Staincross, Barnsley.

“Adam is a fantastic driving instructor who helped me pass first time with flying colours. He makes driving fun but also gives solid advice when it comes to the nitty gritty that will definitely help to improve your skills along the way. I would absolutely recommend Adam, not only is he a great instructor, he’s also a great guy who is easy to get on with!”

Debbie Kwong, Taunton

Yasmin Demircekic of Royston, Barnsley.

“I passed first time with Adam with only 3 minors. I would recommend Adam to anyone who’s wanting to learn to drive before I started I was anxious about learning to drive because I didn’t have any idea how to do anything I didn’t even know what a clutch was, but after a few months I became more confident and things got a lot more easier. He is a reliable instructor and always tries his best to work around when you’re available. He is very calm and patent & gives you thorough explanations when you’re doing things and why you should do them. If I had to start again I would still choose Adam, thank you for all your help.”

You Ask – We Answer

Will i Drive On My 1st lesson?

Yes, you will definitely be driving on your first lesson.

If you are new to driving, your Instructor will drive you to a suitable location to get you started. It’s vital that your first few lessons are conducted in an area that will ensure your success and build your confidence.

Your Instructor will take a few minutes to record your licence details, test your eyesight and explain how to adjust your seat, head restraint and make sure you are comfortable.

He/she will then explain the controls that you will need to operate during your first lesson.

You will then be given a briefing on the move off and stop procedure with a short discussion to ensure you understand what is required. Your Instructor will then give you full talk through and guide you through your practical driving session. You will be able to learn at your own pace and your lesson will progress as and when you feel ready.

All your lessons will be structured using our unique ALS (Accelerated Learning System) to ensure you receive the maximum value for your money. Your early lessons will be in quiet areas, mainly on housing estates so you can build your confidence.

Full details on our unique Accelerated Learning System can be accessed by watching the main video on this page titled ‘Save Your Time and Money’.

Do You Offer A Block Booking Discount?

We suggest if possible, you purchase a block of ten hours to benefit from the £30 discount. If for any reason you are not satisfied with the tuition and service, you will be entitled to a refund. Any unused lessons purchased will also be refunded.

Full lesson pricing details can be found by clicking the ‘Lesson Prices’ button just above the four contact methods.

Do you offer 1 hour lessons?

You may be thinking of taking 1-hour lessons and Just to be clear and give you a balanced view, there is nothing wrong with 1-hour lessons, we just feel that they offer less value for your money as they prolong the learning period substantially.

Another of the drawbacks is having to take time from your lesson to drive to a suitable location that is relevant to cover the topic and then having to drive back again.

Do you offer a money back guarantee?

Yes, we offer an industry leading 9 Star Guarantee. You will be entitled to a refund on every lesson you take if you are not satisfied with both the tuition and service you receive.

You can access full details of the 9 Star Guarantee by clicking the ‘Learn More’ Button at the top of this page.

How much are your lessons?

Please click the Yellow ‘Lesson Prices’ Button just above the four ways you can make contact for full lesson pricing details.

Do you offer intensive or crash courses?

Please click the ‘Are we the right school for you’ Button for a full explanation of the services we offer.

Do you offer lessons in an Automatic vehicle?

No, we do not currently offer auto lessons.

How many lessons a week do you recommend?

We find that taking a two hour lesson every week, proves to be the most successful strategy for most students. Two hour lessons would be far more beneficial to you. You will learn far more for your money and you will also be test ready in half the time. You will have a decent amount of condensed learning in one go with time to digest and be focused for your next lesson. Sometimes students think that they would be unable to concentrate for a period of two hours, but this is why we would ‘chunk’ your lessons and break up the two hour slot to cover several topics, just as they do in the school curriculum to keep the learning fresh and focused. Taking a regular weekly lesson has proven success as it provides continuity, the retention of knowledge and it will reduce your learning period.

You will also be able to book more than one lesson slot per week should you wish to reduce your learning period and be test ready sooner. (Subject to instructor availability)

Do you offer lessons at weekends or just during the week?

Yes, we do offer lessons on Saturday’s and Sunday’s, but weekend lessons are usually in high demand and will be subject to availability.

How many lessons do you think I will need?

It’s almost impossible to know until you begin your tuition.

The DVSA suggests that the average is around 45 hours, but we find that most of our students are test ready much sooner. It really does depend on the individual, but our recommendation is to book ten hours of lessons and once completed, you will have a much better idea of the number of lessons you will need.

Where can I find payment options?

You can pay with cash or if you prefer bank transfer further details can be sent upon request.

Is it possible to pay the instructor on the day of my lesson?

Yes.

Do you come to me or do I have to come to you?

We will always pick you up at your preferred location. That could be from College, your home, work or anywhere else you choose. We will also drop you off at your preferred location.

Do you offer one-hour lessons?

Lessons are usually 1 hour, 1 & half hour or 2 hours. I would recommend longer sessions especially in the earlier stages to give you the best value for your money.

Do you have female instructors?

Unfortunately, we don’t have any female instructors at the moment.

What is your 1st time pass rate?

We are very proud of our first time pass rate. It’s impossible to give the exact figure as we regularly have tests, so it continually changes.

For more information see ‘How To Choose Your Instructor’ this will help you make the correct decision and avoid the costly mistakes that force over 30% of all local learners to change their instructor before reaching test day.

How long is the waiting list?

It really depends on when you would be available to take your lessons.
If you would like to contact us by using one of the four methods towards the top of this website we can discuss your requirements.

How come you are more expensive than others?

That is a very good question.
Most people wrongly assume that all driving instructors are the same!

I have given detailed information on this website to help you make the correct decision, avoid the costly mistakes and to avoid being one of the 30% of local learners that feel the need to change their driving instructor before test day.

Read ‘How To Choose Your Driving Instructor’.

Do you teach people with learning difficulties?

Yes, but it will depend on the circumstances. The best advice I can give is to us and discuss your needs, to determine if we can meet your requirements.

More Information

Adam Shenton School of Motoring- Top Rated Driving Lessons in Barnsley.

If you’re looking for a Professional Driving School that comes highly recommended with a particularly high first time pass rate we are the school for you. Adam Shenton Driving School serves the county of South Yorkshire bringing you the highly trained driving instructors you need to pass your practical driving test.

Our instructors are male or female with a wide variety of levels of experience, however all bring the very latest techniques & methods to the table. Our highly popular “try us & see” service gives learner drivers the opportunity to see if we are suitable for their needs before booking additional lessons.

Like many other instructors, we also provide discounts for beginners & new students & we offer a full money back guarantee if you are not entirely happy with our service. We also offer large discounts for block bookings of 10 lessons or more.

As mentioned in our opening paragraph we are particularly proud of our first time pass rate which is considerably above the national average. What is our secret? We have a proven system that ensures that our driving instructors follow our best practice guidelines & procedures.

Our structured system will feature a complete plan of action broken down for you so you can see where you are up to with regard to your progress within the driving school syllabus & what you need to do to get to the level where you are ready to take your test.

Our Instructors will issue you with a report card that will detail each step of your progress. It will demonstrate the areas that you might need more practice whilst also showing the things you are particularly strong with.

We do encourage practice with family & friends provided it is used in a way that will assist & improve your driving abilities ready for your next lessons. Ideally you would practice the areas that have been highlighted for you on your report card so as to reduce the length of time you need to cover them in your actual lessons.

For example if you are struggling with your three point turn manoeuvre then it would make sense to go somewhere quite & practice as often as you can whilst out with friends & family. Once you can demonstrate you are able to carry out the procedure confidently & error free then your instructor will then move you on to the next step of the syllabus.

However if your instructor thinks you need more practice you will continue where you left off until you have mastered it. This example demonstrates the importance of using your practice time wisely.

You should ensure that you complete your theory examination as quickly as possible. This will benefit you as it gives you a better understanding of the practical side. It will also allow for your instructor to book you in for your test as soon as you are ready without any unnecessary delays.
